    This review is about a variation of the product

    After a lot of back-and-forth with management, I managed to convince them to replace the Seagate drives with these ones.

    The SAS protocol is nothing like SATA in terms of speed and reliability; it's twice as fast.

    Regarding reliability, the drives are a bit quieter compared to the Seagate ones, but most importantly, they run at a lower temperature. Now, if you have 30 drives running 5 degrees cooler in the Data Room, it makes a difference. They haven't had any issues for 6 months now with daily read-write operations, both for backups and for network folders.

    If someone wanted to build their own NAS at home with TrueNAS, these drives are excellent, considering you won't be doing the same amount of read-write operations and data volume at home on a daily basis.

    Edit 1: After 4 years of 24/7 continuous use, not a single drive has shown an error, bad sector, or started clicking. The HC series, formerly Hitachi before WD acquired them, produces rock-solid drives.

    I believe it is the noisiest hard drive on the market. At night, the clicking sound is heard every 2-3 seconds (even if the NAS is on and the PC is off), as if you had a fork scratching a wooden surface. If I had known, I would have paid an extra 200 to buy a 4tb SSD. It might be less audible when installed inside a PC, because the NAS casing amplifies the sound due to its shape and lighter construction... but still, there is no chance of it not being heard!
    If you are going to place it in another room or house or country, I recommend it. If you want to have it next to you, bring earplugs. Otherwise... fully reliable.
