What can one say about this miracle watch...beautiful, retro, and durable. It's the watch you wear at the office, in the field, at work, at home, while traveling, everywhere... I won't go into unnecessary details about time synchronization because it simply isn't needed. Just have the automatic synchronization function on and the watch will eventually synchronize itself. Some people put it next to the window, others take it outside to find a signal, etc., but in reality, none of these are necessary because the watch simply doesn't lose a second. Furthermore, the huge advantage of this particular watch is its battery, as it charges with sunlight, so there's no need to worry about changing it or waterproofing the watch after opening it for many years...

If I had to find something negative, it would be that for European standards, we are accustomed to having the date first and then the month. This watch displays it the other way around and unfortunately, it doesn't change...

At the current price, it is a must-buy for someone looking for a durable and accurate solar watch.

Guys, the watch is a miracle, I don't think I will ever part with it. Anyone who takes the time to search and watch the durability videos that the Japanese make will understand. Now, some possible flaws that I find and show in the photos are that with a call, you can't see the time clearly and it can't adjust the time from the satellite every night, probably because I live in southern Crete, but from what I see, I'm not outside for a second.
Other minor issues that are solved in the updated version are the display of the date (first the months and then the day) and in the countdown, it doesn't show the time on the dial but the initial minutes you have selected, whoever has it can give 50 euros more to solve them.
As I said at the beginning, the watch is amazing.
It withstands, it tunes itself from the satellite, has 5 alarms, countdown and stopwatch, energy saving at night, and it charges with solar power as long as it realizes that you are not using it. What else could anyone want from a watch?

My experience with the watch was good. It is lightweight, relatively comfortable on the wrist, has a readable dial, beautiful retro aesthetic, solar-powered, durable, and made in Thailand instead of China. However, it also has some disadvantages, such as very small buttons that are relatively difficult to press, especially if you need to press them repeatedly, an American-style date display with the month in front of the day, and a very short duration (1.5 sec) for the light to stay on. Additionally, the strap has a somewhat rough texture on the inside and easily leaves marks on the wrist. Despite the ventilation channels it has, the wrist sweats at the contact points. The alarm only rings for 10 seconds and is very weak, there is no chance it will wake you up. It can be used more as a reminder than as an alarm clock. Setting the time from the Atomic clock of Europe is difficult inside the house, and even outside it requires a bit of luck to succeed. Personally, I downloaded a multiband watch adjustment application on my phone and synchronize it from there. Also, this model is the GW-M5610, first released in 2011-2012, which Casio discontinued last year and replaced it with the GW-M5610U. However, I preferred it because it has a green Electroluminescent light and its price has dropped significantly (85 euros), maybe due to its discontinuation. The new one has additional features that did not convince me to pay the extra money required. I also like the idea that due to its discontinuation, it will gradually become a vintage piece. It has already been on the market for ten years.

After a lot of searching for an everyday watch that is accurate, durable, not flashy, and beautiful (for me personally), I came across this product. Being nostalgic for the '90s, I immediately fell in love with it! It reminded me of the watch I had as a child! Without thinking too much, I bought it. I rarely took it off my wrist, I was as happy as a puppy! After about 9 months, I noticed that the battery level dropped to med, but I didn't pay much attention. After another 4 months, to my great surprise, I saw the low indicator flashing. I took it out on the balcony for 4 hours, everything was fine. To cut a long story short, it charged in the morning, and by evening it was low again. At the dealership, they told me that because it is an old model, it is justified. They didn't cover the capacitor (battery) under warranty because it is consumable. I'm giving it only 3 stars just because I got incredibly disappointed. I expected to deal with the watch in 10 years, but no. Maybe I made a mistake. I hope this battery will last now. Other than that, the watch is fantastic! It doesn't get damaged! It has hit iron, wood, stones, anything you can imagine, and it doesn't even have a scratch!

Hello everyone, I bought the watch on 23-10-2020. At first, I had my doubts about its size and how it would fit on my wrist. My wrist circumference is 18 cm.
But when I wore it, those doubts disappeared. It fits very well on the wrist and has several adjustment positions on the strap. So, I imagine it will fit on any wrist. Don't worry. The size is very good for everyone unless someone wants a very "bulky" watch on their wrist.
The only thing that might give you some trouble is the automatic and manual time setting.
Inside the house, but also during the day, I couldn't adjust it no matter how hard I tried.
The time setting always succeeds after 01:00 midnight and always near an open window or even better outside the house (balcony, courtyard). You leave it outside all night, as it doesn't get damaged anyway, and it adjusts itself through satellite from England or Germany. Even so, you should know that the time setting doesn't always succeed, especially in cities with apartment buildings. Don't worry, at some point the time setting will happen.
The settings, in general, might give you some difficulty, but with a little patience and reading the manual (1-2 hours), you will adjust it as you want.
Finally, the watch appears very sturdy and durable. Anyone who can watch videos on YouTube from Casio's laboratories in Japan will be amazed by the durability tests the watch undergoes.

EDIT 15/4/2021: By setting the watch to ON for Daylight Saving Time (DST), I discovered that the time setting through satellite happens more frequently during the night, but of course always in an open space, right?

The watch is awesome, really accurate since it connects to a satellite and adjusts automatically with absolute precision. It has a light that you can activate in automatic mode, so when you look at the time, it lights up on its own, saving energy if you're not wearing it and there's no light. The screen turns off and on again when you touch it, of course it's properly set. It has 5 alarms, a stopwatch, countdown timer, world time, full automatic calendar, beep option when the time changes, and beeps on the buttons if you want. It has a very durable crystal, lightweight, comfortable, and extremely resistant. Oh, and it's solar-powered, so in 15 years we'll see about the price, but it's definitely the best. If you like the appearance of the watch, get it with your eyes closed. I was also an owner of the GG 1000 and this one is truly better in every aspect, and at half the price of a G-Shock with all the unnecessary sensors that simply increase the price. Those who know, understand what I'm saying. It has everything it needs, good purchases

I had my eye on this watch for a while as I had decided to buy a G-shock. I started with larger Casio models but after a lot of searching, I ended up with this one with a negative display. The watch is truly incredible with a relatively retro design that reminds me of the 80s, as it has roots from the predecessor DW-5600. The first time you see it, it might seem relatively small for a G-shock. Soon you will realize that its dimensions are the golden ratio in terms of practicality and everyday use. I would recommend trying it before buying (or seeing photos and videos on wrists) so as not to be surprised.

Regarding its functions...
Casio G-shock - no need for recommendations for shocks, mishandling, etc.
Multi Band 6 - Automatic or manual synchronization via radio waves from the 6 atomic clocks/stations around the world.
Tough Solar - Battery charged by the sun, meaning it will probably need replacement after many years.
Waterproof up to 20 BAR.
Backlit Illumination - On/Auto.
Power Saver - On/Off.
Sound On/Off.
Negative Display - If you like watches with negative displays, this is the way to go. If not, or if your eyes prefer a regular display, then go for the 5610-1ER.
Small buttons, well protected but require some effort in handling.
Relatively low tone of alarm, hourly notifications, etc.
The night illumination lasts relatively short, but you can set it to automatic (with hand movement), so it lights up whenever you need it without pressing buttons.

I can say that it is the only square G-Shock that someone will need.

With Power Saving on, I left it on the desk and after about an hour, the screen turned off.
I was scared at first, but when I picked it up and it turned on, I realized that it's not a bug, it's a feature.
You can put it on mute so you don't annoy the people around you with the beep-beep sound every now and then, as you navigate through it.
The auto illumination is very convenient at night, it lights up easily by holding the LIGHT button.
The auto illumination does NOT turn off automatically after 6 hours, like it does on the regular G-Shock, to save battery, because it is Solar-powered.
I tried to Sync it and it doesn't catch anything inside the house! But on the balcony, during the evening hours, it synchronizes normally, within three minutes. This is because the antenna (DCF77 - 50°01' N 09°00' E) that transmits the signal is located in Frankfurt, Germany and at night it has fewer interferences.

Although small (43mm), it looks great on the wrist, fits perfectly on the wrist, and feels like you're not wearing anything.

The only negatives I have found so far are:
-I can't set how long the auto illumination will stay on. 1.5 sec is okay, but I would like more.
-At night, no matter how long you hold the button for the light, it turns off by itself after 2 seconds.
-In the world time function, I can't deactivate cities that I'm not interested in

I have owned it since 2015, I bought it for around €120 and I have been wearing it everywhere and every day since then. The watch is incredibly durable. It has been in the sea, in the shower, filled with dirt, dust, and mud, it has been forgotten in very low and high temperatures (car dashboard), and it has been dropped and fallen countless times.
Its size is small and discreet for a G-shock, so if you have a small wrist like me, it will fit you well. The small size is also ideal for situations where there is no space and the watch is bothersome, as well as for easily hiding it under the cuff of a shirt.
The screen is covered with hard crystal, so despite the impacts, it doesn't have any scratches until today. The plastic case and strap are quite durable, but even if you break them, they can be easily replaced with new ones.
It has many functions:
1. The screen backlight is phosphorescent from behind, which is also automatic (optional) with the movement of the wrist.
2. It has five alarms with snooze.
3. Stopwatch and countdown timer.
4. Waterproof up to 200m.
5. Automatic time synchronization from a signal transmitted from Germany (it doesn't lose a second).
6. Solar charging, you never have to change the battery unless it breaks.
7. Power save mode if you're not wearing it.
8. World clock.
Overall, it is a watch that you will have for a long time and it has a very good price for what it is.
If you like the design, you buy it with your eyes closed and you won't regret it for years, as the design is now classic for a digital watch.

P.S. The light-colored screen is more visible in sunny conditions compared to the version with the dark-colored screen.

I bought it on 9-12-2019. It has automatic time adjustment via radio waves from 6 points around the world, depending on which time zone you are in. In Greece, it receives signals from England and Germany. You need to place it next to a window as far away as possible from electricity, mobile routers, and other devices in order for it to make the adjustment correctly. This is also mentioned in the user manual. You can manually adjust the time automatically as many times as you want during the day by pressing the bottom right button for a few seconds. However, before starting this process, you need to set the local time you are in and be in as empty an area as possible next to a window. I recommend the bathroom if it is as far away as possible from electricity and general radiation. In Greece, you select ATH, which stands for Athens. The automatic time adjustment is successful during nighttime hours and not during daylight hours. The automatic time adjustment occurs up to 6 times automatically, 5 times for China, from 00:00, 1 to 5 in the morning, every hour exactly. Yesterday, by chance, I looked at the time at 1 am and saw that it did start the automatic time adjustment, but it didn't succeed in the living room. However, when I went to the bathroom and started the automatic adjustment myself, it was successful. It has three signal levels for automatic adjustment, L1, L2, L3. Level 3 is the strongest signal, and then it adjusts the time, but it takes from one and a half minutes to several minutes to adjust the time automatically. Today, on 12/12/19, before 1 am, I hung the watch on the bathroom window, and as soon as it reached 1 am, the automatic time adjustment started, it found a signal on L3, and the process of automatic time adjustment took 4 minutes, and at 01:04 it automatically adjusted the time to 3 o'clock, it took 2 minutes to adjust. It has a world time feature, as you may have understood, the rest I won't explain because they are the most common settings. I shouldn't forget to mention that it has a solar panel and charges all the time, depending on the amount of light available. The manual emphasizes continuously charging the watch to keep the settings as accurate as possible and not to cover the watch with the clothes you wear. However, since it is not possible to do this continuously, I place it on top of the kitchen faucet under the spotlights of the cabinets, and as long as I am awake, it charges from there, and when I leave the house, I wear the watch. It also indicates how long it needs to charge after pressing the button for the watch's light, and also in the manual, it states how many hours of charging it needs depending on how many lumens each light emits, such as the living room lamp, bathroom lamp, sunlight, etc. It has a power save mode, which means that from 9 pm to 7 am, if the watch's screen doesn't receive light or the watch doesn't move, the screen completely turns off after 70 minutes, but all the functions remain active in the background. It will continue to function with the last successful adjustment. The next day, it will start the adjustment again at 1 until 5 until it finds a signal. However, it is better to see this in the manual because it is different from DST (Daylight Saving Time), it is a bit complicated, and that's why I emphasize reading the manual. Don't forget that if the watch is not next to a window, like in the bathroom, to find a signal, it will work with the most recent successful adjustment.
