Very interesting. A tour of different educational systems that gives you a taste of what applies in other countries, without delving into in-depth, scientifically documented analyses.

This, along with Tassos Avrantinis' book, is truly the best book on the subject of high-performance education systems. Highly enjoyable, understandable, and definitely beneficial. When you read good books, you feel a sense of satisfaction when you finish them (in this case, it comes very quickly because it is really fast and easy to read), but at the same time, there is also a sadness that this intellectual journey, where you discovered new knowledge and ideas, has come to an end. And this book gave me exactly that feeling. I have nothing else to say.

Description & Specifications

The theoretical analyses of education specialists are certainly valuable, but they often focus on quantitative measures and general goals. They leave out the people. You learn about the "what" or "who is first, tenth, or last," but not about the "how" and the "why."

The British educator Lucy Crehan, though young, has experience in school classrooms and wondered why students from certain educational systems consistently excel in international educational assessments. She decided to conduct field research: she traveled successively to Finland, Japan, Shanghai, Singapore, and Canada to gain a deeper understanding of their way of life and culture, stayed in homes of teachers with school-aged children, observed the educational process firsthand in schools representative of each system, and spoke with school principals, teachers, students, and parents.

The result of this research, which combines personal experience with the necessary theoretical underpinning where needed, is a comprehensive proposal of "theory and practice" in education that offers exceptional lessons useful for those who want to know how different cultures and societies approach education to draw ideas for their own practices.

Essentially a "global educational tour," the Nursery of Intelligence is aimed at educators, parents, education officials, and every citizen who believes that education is the foundation of our common future.
