Description

Short stories that traverse Greek space and time. Drama, Thessaloniki, Kozani, Velventos, Amfissa, Peristeri, Athens... From 1941 to 2019, a historical time and a lived time.

The starting point is a garden that once passed through the life of the author, and with memory builds a grave... The marriage-permanent of Pinoula from Romylia. Uncle Michalis, a former tuberculosis patient and now a kite. A sewing machine leads the refugees of Greeks from the Bulgarian-occupied Drama to the German-occupied Thessaloniki. A prostitute reunites with a dragon.

Nikos B. travels alongside Greece of the '50s from Velventos in Kozani to Peristeri in Attica. The 13-year-old gypsy who was to be married. A tattoo on the pinky tells the story of the teenager who saw his 15-year-old friend get shot - the tear gas in his mind and the fire in the center of Athens.

Immigrants, with souls like minefields and tolls from iron fists, who become transplants. In his first literary appearance, Giannis Daoultzis presents a collection of short stories with the small incidents that define the lives of unsung heroes, for whom the prostitute’s story seems to think they have settled their debts.

The first-person narrative hands over to the third-person and vice versa, while the tragic intertwines with the comic, just like in everyday life, where laughter meets tears. The stories of the people that compose the mosaic of History.
