Crimes of the Female Gender includes my fifth book. It concerns women of all ages who came to commit crimes for various reasons.
The first crime I address was committed in 1931 and even became a song: "Poor Athanasopoulos, what were you destined to suffer, to lose your youth from an evil mother-in-law." It is followed by dozens of other crimes that took place in Athens and various parts of the country. Most of the homicides I refer to have captured public attention for a long time or even years. These were crimes that truly shocked Greece.
The protagonist is the woman, as either the natural or moral instigator or accomplice, in all the homicides included in the book: spouse killings, child murders, maternal murders, and murders of other individuals for various reasons. Many of these homicides bear the character of revenge, horrible passion, abyssal hatred, and are related to money, jealousy, property, and other issues.
Interestingly, most of the women who committed crimes had a clean criminal record; they had never troubled the Police for the slightest offense. They were, in fact, the women next door. I attempted to provide an accurate description and documentation of the real events so that in the coming years they can be used by the historian of the future without the fear of inaccuracy.
