The publication of this issue is a result of the need identified during the teaching of the Systematic Botany course at the Agricultural University of Athens and includes a series of lectures that have been taught over time to students.
During the presentation of the content, explanatory notes are provided, and a summary of terminology (nomenclature) used in Systematic Botany is mentioned. In general terms, concise and selective knowledge is developed that will provide the student with a readily usable resource that will facilitate and guide them in the study of plant specimens.
To complement their knowledge, the student is referred to the search for extensive international literature. It was also deemed appropriate to include the Latin terminology in parentheses after the Greek terminology, so that the student becomes familiar with it, as the relevant international nomenclature is derived from and adapted to these.
The book describes the main families as well as the main genera found in the Greek flora. Synonyms of the taxa are given minimally, while the exceptional size of the morphological characteristic is noted in parentheses.
