I bought it for hiking. Lightweight and durable. Very useful for insulation under a sleeping pad (also helps the pad from slipping), and for sitting, but also for spreading out your sleeping bag when you want to fold it (instead of doing it inside the tent which is uncomfortable due to limited space)
