In the 1st part of the book, (a) the philosophy of modern seismic design is explained in detail, (b) some practical issues related to the education, simulation, and analysis of building structures are highlighted, accompanied by a critical examination of relevant provisions of Eurocode 8, (c) the main contemporary simulation practices for buildings from reinforced concrete are thoroughly presented with diagrams and photographs, and (d) the calculation process according to Eurocode 8 is presented in the form of flowcharts.
In the 2nd part of the book, certain numerical examples of analyzing reinforced concrete buildings and the detailing of their structural elements based on Eurocodes 8 and 2 are presented with as much detail as possible.
Finally, in the 3rd part of the book, the provisions of Eurocodes regarding the minimum reinforcement requirements for reinforced concrete elements, as well as some key technical terms (both in Greek and English), are presented in a summarized manner.
The book is an especially useful resource for the structural designer-engineer who is called upon to apply the Eurocodes in conducting seismic studies for reinforced concrete buildings.
