Blood Ties
Kait Diaz
Kait was born and raised outside the jurisdiction of the COG. Her mother, Reyna, was the leader of a secluded Outsider village. However, Kait has close family ties to the COG: her father was a revered lieutenant colonel during the Pendulum Wars and her uncle, Oscar, a decorated Gear fighter in the early years of the Locust War. Even after joining the COG, her true values remain unknown even to herself.
JD Fenix
JD, the son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud, grew up with the war stories of his parents. Unfortunately, an incident at Settlement 2 left JD deeply disillusioned with the COG, and he and his best friend, Del, deserted and settled in an Outsider village. After helping to repel the initial Swarm invasion, JD once again caught the interest of Prime Minister Jinn, much to the displeasure of his father and friends.
Del Walker
Del lost both of his parents after the events of the Locust War and was sent to a boarding school, where he met JD Fenix. As a young officer, Del took part in a disastrous mission at COG's Settlement 2, which shattered his faith in Prime Minister Jinn. Although Del recognizes the need to fight with the COG after the emergence of the Swarm, he is reluctant to do so and is completely unprepared to learn the details about the Settlement 2 incident, which JD has kept from him.
Marcus Fenix
After the Locust War, Marcus did not play a significant role in the COG, although his wife, Anya, initially led the government. After Anya's death, it became clear that the COG preferred authoritarian control over the spirit of reconstruction. Now that he and JD are together again, Marcus is once again fighting for the COG, but his dissatisfaction with the authorities and conflicts with his son remain.
