Description

Surge is an action RPG set in a world devastated by war and global warming. The game offers a tough experience, focusing on challenging, intense close combat. It features fresh combat, looting, and crafting mechanics, as well as a unique character progression system. Equipped with an exosuit and government implants, you harness supernatural power to survive the CREO complex, a large corporation aiming to save the world. Upgrade your exosuit with nearly endless combinations of armor and weapons, each with its own move sets as you attempt to loot, craft, and improve your gear. Recover weapons and modular armor using the dynamic targeting system to attack and decapitate limbs separately. From lighting systems to heavy lifting devices, security armor to advanced and secret technology – mix and match equipment to fit your playstyle and face the challenges arising from the malfunctioning complex.

Combat is challenging and relentless. You will need to study your enemies carefully rather than attacking randomly and recklessly. Study their attack patterns and weaknesses, then strike hard and fast – even the weakest enemies can be deadly! Thanks to the dynamic targeting system, you can aim at specific limbs of your opponents to decapitate them, with the goal of looting or crafting the attached equipment. Focus your attention for easy kills by hitting unprotected limbs, or try to obtain a piece of gear from the enemy by targeting a specific area. Balancing your survival against your desire for new gear is the key to progressing through the CREO complex.

As a CREO employee, you have an exosuit designed for industrial work within the CREO complex. This basic suit can be upgraded with light, medium, or heavy components, allowing you to specialize in your chosen playstyle. With supernatural power, you can wield massive weapons and deal huge damage to your enemies, as well as survive dangerous environmental hazards such as toxic leaks. Along with the exosuit, you have a cognitive interface between your brain and the suit, enhancing the implants you loot from enemies and the game world. Your suit has limited energy output, so it will be up to you to balance the benefits and drawbacks of each implant with the energy demands of your suit’s upgrades and equipment.

The deeper you get involved in CREO and the longer you survive, the more technological waste (XP) you will gain from defeating enemies and bosses. If you die, the metal waste you have collected up to that point will drop where you fall. You will have to fight to regain it or lose it forever. In operations, you can use this technological waste to upgrade your suit and increase its performance (level), allowing you to use more and stronger implants, or use the waste as raw material to craft and upgrade armor and weapons. You will naturally increase your proficiency with various weapon categories by using them in combat. Over time, you will improve your affinity with them, increasing the damage you deal and enabling you to face enemies and bosses that are much more terrifying.

Explore the many diverse environments of CREO, both inside and out, and use your implants to target specific parts of enemies to obtain crafting resources. Use them to improve your gear by upgrading your weapons and armor in the scattered safe rooms of CREO. Specialize to meet your needs – from heavy armor connected to your suit to rods, axes, and lifting equipment, using CREO’s advanced industrial technology against the emerging threats.

The CREO complex is huge and full of secrets.

I am a fan of the first one but this one is much more advanced.. For me, it is the best souls-like game of all (except for From-SW). The story doesn't say much, but the gameplay is enjoyable!
