Description

The "Ship Energy Systems" is one of the core courses of Naval Engineering at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, NTUA, focusing on shipboard electronic installations and all systems for the production of mechanical, electrical, and thermal power, excluding Diesel engines, which are the subject of a separate course.

A complete coverage of all these subjects would require a volume for each of them. However, the limited time of an academic semester would make their study practically difficult, if not impossible. Thus, this book attempts a brief presentation, based on the premise that many of the necessary knowledge for understanding the material has been acquired in previous compulsory courses of the curriculum, such as Electrical Engineering, Electrical Applications, and Electrical Laboratory, Applied Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer.

For each subject, relevant bibliography is provided, the study of which is essential for a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of [...] (from the preface of the book).
