The TE-122 counterfeit banknote detector checks euros, US dollars and British pounds automatically using eight verification methods. Euro banknotes can be inserted in either direction. Suspect notes are ejected from the front, while genuine notes can be ejected from either the front or the back, as selected. The LCD displays the quantity by denomination, the total number of banknotes and their total value.

Verification methods include ultraviolet (UV), infrared (IR) and magnetic (MG) detection, as well as checks of the metallic strip, image, paper quality, size and thickness. The cover opens to allow cleaning of the interior and sensors, and the software can be updated via the USB port. The device runs on a rechargeable lithium battery or mains power.
