In other times, more peaceful and quiet, the chronicle writer had no greater ambition than to draw a smile from his reader. Thus, in this genre, skillful humorists emerged in the past, among whom were our well-known literary figures who elevated the quality of the genre with literary style, lyrical expression, and philosophical observation.
Today, along with many changes in our land, the chronicle has also changed, becoming more positive and realistic as it observes life in almost all its manifestations. We definitely live in a time of great crisis - a crisis of leadership, moral values, and characters.
In such a time, the author of these notes believed he had a duty to closely follow life through his column in "Ta Nea" and to exercise his criticism in various fields. By highlighting the wrongs and contradictions, he tried to show, in his own way, what is not right, regardless of the fact that many times he felt - and still feels - that he is banging on the door of the deaf.
Is the effort in vain? I am not so pessimistic. Because, regardless of the immediate result, I feel it is my duty to continue in the same way with my work, sometimes cheerfully and sometimes seriously - one for the nail and one for the horseshoe - with the certainty that our land is certainly not inhabited solely by the deaf.
