Description & Specifications

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is the third science fiction work written by Jules Verne (after Paris in the 20th Century and From the Earth to the Moon) and the second to be published. The recipe followed in this work is typical of Verne: It is a travel adventure, in which, however, an unprecedented means for the time (1870) is used, a submarine, the Nautilus.

Its guide is the enigmatic captain and inventor Nemo. In its first edition in 1869, the book did not include illustrations. The first illustrated edition was published in 1870 by Hetzel with engravings by Alphonse de Neuville and Edouard Riou.
