The reference to the mosque did not bother me at all... On the contrary, it gave me the opportunity to talk to my children about other religions and different places of worship. Also about special customs, like that before entering a mosque, out of respect, we must take off our shoes.
Although the theme of the book is very strong, for me the illustration is weak and dull. The colors make me feel melancholic and in my opinion do not help children focus on the essence.

Αν και το βιβλίο είναι κατάλληλο για παιδάκια από πέντε ετών, τα παιδάκια μου (που είναι πεντέμισι) δεν κατάλαβαν αμέσως το μήνυμά του. Το διαβάσαμε αρκετές φορές και κάναμε και κάποιες συζητήσεις για την ενσυναίσθηση και για το πώς μπαίνουμε στην θέση του άλλου.
Σίγουρα, είναι ένα διδακτικό βιβλίο κατάλληλο για μικρά παιδιά, απλά προσωπικά, δεν με κέρδισε...
Ίσως γιατί όταν εγώ είχα επισκεφθεί ένα τζαμί, υπήρχε μία ενοχλητική μυρωδιά, από τα πολλά παπούτσια που είχαν αφήσει έξω, που μου άφησε μία άσχημη αίσθηση... Διαβάζοντας λοιπόν αυτό το βιβλίο, ένιωσα λίγο περίεργα...
Σίγουρα δεν θα δοκίμαζα κανένα ξένο παπούτσι, εκτός της μαμάς μου, όπως έκανε στο τέλος η Ματού!

Το επόμενο βιβλίο της Χαλικιά λογικά θα μιλάει για το κοράνι και για την τζιχαντ, έτσι για να εξοικειώνονται τα παιδιά. Δηλαδή τα παπούτσια μπορούσαν να συνδεθούν μόνο με το τζαμί που αναφέρεται συνεχώς, και με κανένα άλλο μέρος, πχ μαγαζί. Θα έλεγα περισσότερα για τα αυτονόητα και τα κίνητρα τέτοιων επιλογών ειδικά σε παιδικά βιβλία αλλά το σταματώ εδώ.

Δηλαδή τα παπούτσια μπορούσαν να συνδεθούν μόνο με το τζαμί που αναφέρεται συνεχώς, και με κανένα άλλο μέρος, πχ μαγαζί. Θα έλεγα περισσότερα για τα αυτονόητα και τα κίνητρα τέτοιων επιλογών ειδικά σε παιδικά βιβλία αλλά το σταματώ εδώ.

Wonderful book about empathy and what it means to step into someone else's shoes, which at first happens literally and then metaphorically. It can be read from kindergarten up to elementary school, where children can better understand the concept. Some have been critical of the fact that there is a mosque in the story; perhaps this says more about their own fears than about the book itself, which clearly speaks about empathy and acceptance.
Υπέροχο βιβλίο για την ενσυναίσθηση και το τι σημαίνει να μπαίνω στα παπούτσια του άλλου, που στην αρχή αυτό διαδραματίζεται κυριολεκτικά και στη συνέχεια μεταφορικά. Διαβάζεται από νηπιαγωγείο μέχρι και δημοτικό. όπου μπορούν να αντιληφθούν καλύτερα την έννοια. Κάποιοι στάθηκαν επικριτικά στο ότι στην ιστορία υπάρχει τζαμί, ίσως αυτό να λέει περισσότερα για τις δικές τους φοβίες παρά για το ίδιο το βιβλίο, που μιλά ξεκάθαρα για ενσυναίσθηση και αποδοχή.

A beautiful children's book that teaches kids, in a clever and original way, a concept that is rare nowadays. Empathy! The ability for someone to put themselves in another's place, in another's shoes, just like Matou does!
The reference to the mosque did not bother me at all... On the contrary, it gave me the opportunity to talk to my children about other religions and different places of worship. Also about special customs, like that before entering a mosque, out of respect, we must take off our shoes.
Although the theme of the book is very strong, for me the illustration is weak and dull. The colors make me feel melancholic and in my opinion do not help children focus on the essence.
I have exactly the same opinion about the cover...
However, one of my boys noticed something in the pages that I really like. There is a mixed technique in the illustration, meaning some are sketches, while others are photographs. Something like a collage!
Although the book is suitable for children from five years old, my children (who are five and a half) did not immediately understand its message. We read it several times and also had some discussions about empathy and how we put ourselves in someone else's place.
Surely, it is an educational book suitable for young children, but personally, it did not win me over...
Maybe because when I visited a mosque, there was an unpleasant smell from the many shoes left outside, which left me with a bad feeling... So, reading this book, I felt a bit strange...
I definitely would not try on any stranger's shoes, except for my mother's, as Matou did at the end!

Μία Παρασκευή, η μαμά της, της είχε υποσχεθεί ότι θα πάνε βόλτα μαζί. Λόγω δουλειάς όμως δεν τα καταφέρνει και η Ματού θυμώνει πολύ. Όταν την επόμενη μέρα, βλέπει στον διάδρομο τα παπούτσια της μητέρας της και τα δοκιμάζει, καταλαβαίνει πολλά...
Ένα όμορφο παιδικό βιβλίο που μαθαίνει στα παιδάκια, με έξυπνο και πρωτότυπο τρόπο, μία έννοια που στις μέρες μας είναι δυσεύρετη. Την ενσυναίσθηση! Την ικανότητα δηλαδή κάποιου να μπαίνει στη θέση του άλλου, στα παπούτσια του άλλου, όπως κάνει η Ματού!
Η αναφορά στο τζαμί, δεν με ενόχλησε καθόλου… Απεναντίας, μου έδωσε την ευκαιρία να μιλήσω στα παιδάκια μου για τις άλλες θρησκείες και τα διαφορετικά κτίρια λατρείας. Όπως επίσης για ιδιαίτερες συνήθειες, όπως ότι πριν μπούμε σε ένα τζαμί, από σεβασμό, πρέπει να βγάλουμε τα παπούτσια μας.
Αν και το θέμα του βιβλίου είναι πολύ δυνατό, για εμένα η εικονογράφηση είναι αδύναμη και μουντή. Τα χρώματα μου δημιουργούν μελαγχολία και κατά την δική μου άποψη δεν βοηθούν τα παιδιά να συγκεντρωθούν στην ουσία.
Την ίδια ακριβώς άποψη έχω και για το εξώφυλλο...
Ένα από τα αγοράκια μου όμως παρατήρησε κάτι στις σελίδες που μου αρέσει πολύ. Υπάρχει μεικτή τεχνική στην εικονογράφηση, δηλαδή, κάποια είναι σκίτσα, ενώ κάποια άλλα είναι φωτογραφίες. Κάτι σαν κολάζ!
Αν και το βιβλίο είναι κατάλληλο για παιδάκια από πέντε ετών, τα παιδάκια μου (που είναι πεντέμισι) δεν κατάλαβαν αμέσως το μήνυμά του. Το διαβάσαμε αρκετές φορές και κάναμε και κάποιες συζητήσεις για την ενσυναίσθηση και για το πώς μπαίνουμε στην θέση του άλλου.
Σίγουρα, είναι ένα διδακτικό βιβλίο κατάλληλο για μικρά παιδιά, απλά προσωπικά, δεν με κέρδισε...
