The Epson WorkForce DS-970 document scanner scans up to 85 pages per minute and supports automatic feeding and duplex scanning. The automatic document feeder holds up to 100 sheets, while continuous scanning with automatic feeding makes it easier to process large jobs. It features paper protection sensors that detect unusual behavior, as well as glass dirt detection.

It supports documents weighing 27–413 g/m² and up to 6096 mm long. Slow scanning mode reduces speed and friction when processing fragile or damaged documents. The optical resolution is 600 × 600 DPI, with enhanced resolution up to 1200 × 1200 DPI. It features a 1.5-inch display and supports TWAIN, WIA, and ISIS drivers for integration with document management systems.
