The study of the Ascetic Discourses is not an easy task. Their content pertains to the mysteries of God, which are accessible to those who are deemed worthy by Christ.

This new translation allows us to approach a text that presents a threefold difficulty: in language, syntax, and vocabulary. The translation resolves this triple difficulty with a beautiful text that draws us into its reading.

The two philologists and translators (Giorgos Pinakoulas and Dimitris Koutsougeras) labored to present to our language the brilliant work of a monk from the nearly vanished Eastern Church, in which our Fathers recognized themselves.
