Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen

Focus on your music without worrying about your recordings. Feeding into class-leading 24-bit/192kHz converters, the Scarlett 3rd Gen mic preamp is high in gain, low in noise and supremely transparent.

Focusrite has been making preamps for 30 years, and the decades of experience mean Scarlett sounds just like you.

Fast and easy

No audio interface is easier to get up and running with than Scarlett 3rd Gen. The QuickStart tool speeds you through registration and setup, while USB-C connectivity lets you plug into your laptop whenever and wherever the recording muse takes you, with latency so low you won't even notice it.

Take command of your Scarlett 3rd Gen interface from your Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Our Focusrite Control application makes light work of audio and cue routing, monitor mixing and more.

There's something in the Air

Activate the Air circuit on Scarlett 3rd Gen’s upgraded mic preamps to make your guitars and vocals sound instantly brighter and more spacious, giving them a lustrous sheen that can make all the difference in the mix. Air emulates the technology of the same name from our legendary ISA preamp – just ask your local hit record producer how big a deal that is.

I/OS and Halos

From the compact 2i2’s two inputs and two outputs, to the rack-mount 18i20’s immense 18 analogue and ADAT digital inputs, and 20 outputs, Scarlett 3rd Gen caters to all I/O requirements, no matter how simple or expansive.

Focusrite’s signature Gain Halos, meanwhile, light up around gain knobs to indicate input levels, making monitoring visually intuitive and guaranteeing distortion-free recordings.

The perfect package

Every Scarlett 3rd Gen interface comes with a package of software tools to start you on your recording and production journey, including two comprehensive digital audio workstations – Ableton Live Lite and Pro Tools First Focusrite Creative Pack – Softube’s Time and Tone Bundle; Focusrite’s Red Plug-in Suite; and a choice of one of four of XLN Audio’s Addictive Keys virtual keyboard instruments.

As with all Focusrite products, registering your Scarlett 3rd Gen automatically makes you a member of our Plug-in Collective, offering free software downloads every couple of months and generous discounts, as well as a two-year warranty and award-winning customer support.

I had the old design from this particular company. For a home studio, it is truly the best there is. It just stopped working after 9 years.

Having used this particular card in a professional field for 5 years and having tried several others in the same price range, I can easily say that the sound quality it delivers is not just good but of professional level.
As for vocals, it has incredible sound capture in any environment with almost any microphone. It perfectly captures the entire vocal timbre flawlessly, as if you are listening to the artist live.
It offers the same quality when recording instruments

I don't know much about sound cards as I only use it for amateur use (voice recording) but I have to say that I am satisfied! It is easy to use, I do not notice any delays and the sound quality is very good! I also like the air function it has, it makes the voice sound very clear. The light around the gain is also useful as it shows if it is peaking. The software it offers is also worth it! I have been using it for about 1.5 years now and I have not encountered any problems at all. I recommend it!

In the DAW that I use, it has completely changed the intensity aspect to the point where I can't really understand at what intensity the sound is being produced. It is useful if you want to record instruments like guitar, etc., otherwise it is not necessary because it does not have a significant impact on sound quality

Well guys, I use it for audio out for Ableton (in live gigs).
No issues with latency. No drop-outs.
Yes, it has an XLR input (not even a combo), but it doesn't bother me at all.
The USB3 is excellent! Very easy installation on Windows 10. Also, the two jack outputs (not RCA) are a plus, unlike many other sound cards.

A plethora of free plug-ins (for DAW! Not for live performance).

In a few words.... excellent!!! Worth every euro!

Very good, high-quality construction with many inputs and functions, very low latency with direct monitoring, and comes with many digital gifts that set you up for home recording within an hour, and especially for the price on Black Friday, it was a steal. The best purchase I've made recently!

Very good construction and I can say that I am very satisfied with its value for money. Very clean voice recording and no Delay at all! It also has Air Mode on the microphone, which cleans it even more.

Two things concern me about its use:
    1. In the input where I connect the guitar, even if I turn up the volume of the card halfway, when I play loudly, the frequency reaches very high and slightly distorts the sound. (But considering its price, it is the best possible result I have found)
    2. It does not have an input for MIDI Platform. But to find something in this price range, you have to sacrifice a lot of quality, so it's not worth it.

Overall, it is a very good card to start with! To justify an upgrade and go for something better that makes a real difference, one would have to pay an additional 100€ and go for the Motu M2, but that might be for a more advanced level.

The best value for money I have ever bought in my life.
Even if you don't like the sound card (which is unlikely), just the software it comes with as a gift when you buy it is worth the price of the card.
It's ridiculous the quality you get for this money. It is highly recommended without any doubt. Go for it.

As an entry-level sound card for someone who wants to do amateur recording or broadcasting (YouTube, etc.), the card delivers exactly what it promises. Small, elegant, and sturdy construction.

Anyone who wants to see a good review of its electronics can do so from master David Jones here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8onqBc5iTB4. There is also a comparative review by Julian Krause here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSgzF79ivd0.

As mentioned in the negatives, it is not recommended for low impedance headphones, as the relatively high output impedance significantly reduces performance. Also, the headphone connection does not automatically mute the monitors, so if there is a microphone, positive sound feedback will be created.

In conclusion, a very good value for money choice, but we need to be aware of its limitations.

It created issues sometimes and produced clipping and noise in the headphones. It would be fixed by restarting the computer. It is not recommended for use with headphones above 80 Ohms. It cannot properly drive them. They play at a moderate volume. In all other aspects, it was perfect

Very good sound card from what I have tested. I use it to record guitar. I connected it to a Mac Mini with M1 chip and everything worked immediately without drivers. The only problem I had was that the connecting cable of the card had an issue... It was probably short-circuiting somewhere and constantly giving a warning (both on Windows and Mac) that it draws more power than the USB ports can provide. As soon as I changed the cable, everything was fine!!

High-quality construction, connects to the computer via USB and is recognized immediately. After that, the product must be registered on the Focusrite website and the drivers installed. It provides two inputs (one for a microphone and one for a musical instrument). On the back, it has dual outputs for powered speakers (L+R), and on the front, it has one output for studio headphones (1/4 inch Jack connector), all of these for monitoring what you are playing and what the software mixer is playing.

Important: If you want to listen to what you are playing live with your musical instrument during recording in a suitable program (some provided by the Focusrite website), it is necessary to have speakers or headphones connected directly to the Scarlett - you cannot listen from the speakers connected to the computer or the USB headphones, etc. The Scarlett must be both the input and the output, meaning the recording source and the live playback source simultaneously.

Excellent sound performance, very good starter software (especially Ableton Live), completely plug and play.
I use it in my home studio for recording and instead of an amplifier in combination with a monitor or headphones.
Years ahead of similar products from line6 that I had in the past.

From the most high-quality sound cards.... incomparable and even more so for this price... personally, I installed it in my home studio. And literally, it raised the recording levels significantly... and the sound quality it provides to the monitors... compared to a Lexicon I had... I recommend it without hesitation... good construction, high-quality, and reliable.

For recordings without many requirements, it is just what you need and a guaranteed purchase. Anyway, now if you study a good application like REAPER, you can do many things without additional hardware. I don't have any latency at all, and even if you have it, it can be adjusted if you watch a tutorial, for example.

I have experience with many PC cards and professional systems. For a small home studio and a portable solution, I can't think of anything better. Very good collection of input programs.

  • I had the old design from this particular company. For a home studio, it is truly the best there is. It just stopped working after 9 years.

  • Having used this particular card in a professional field for 5 years and having tried several others in the same price range, I can easily say that the sound quality it delivers is not just good but of professional level.
As for vocals, it has incredible sound capture in any environment with almost any microphone. It perfectly captures the entire vocal timbre flawlessly, as if you are listening to the artist live.
It offers the same quality when recording instruments

  • I don't know much about sound cards as I only use it for amateur use (voice recording) but I have to say that I am satisfied!

  • In the DAW that I use, it has completely changed the intensity aspect to the point where I can't really understand at what intensity the sound is being produced. It is useful if you want to record instruments like guitar, etc., otherwise it is not necessary because it does not have a significant impact on sound quality
