“The book ‘Clinical Findings in Companion Animals’ (2nd edition) by Dr. Michael Schaer is one of the few texts, if not the only one, that addresses almost the entirety of internal medicine diseases in dogs and cats through the use of images from real clinical cases. The reader, flipping through the first pages of the book, immediately perceives that the author has put into practice the adage ‘A picture is worth a thousand words.’

At the beginning of each chapter, there is a brief introductory text followed by the analysis of the cases. The backbone of the text, which is none other than the rich photographic material, is accompanied by exceptionally detailed and descriptive captions, providing the main information regarding the history, clinical findings, diagnostic tests, and management of the depicted case.

The text in the captions is so rich and vivid that it keeps the reader's interest alive. Upon completing the reading, the reader feels as though they were present during the examination of the case, which aids in memorizing the information and recalling the acquired knowledge when a similar case is examined under real conditions.
