DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Patriot Viper Steel provides a speed of 3200MT/s, with CL16 and 16GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

Obviously, I could have gone for a kit with higher MHz, like 3800 or even 4400 MHz, but for me, this is a temporary solution since this build will be replaced in the near future with a more capable one with DDR5 RAM. Therefore, I didn't need anything better. I recommend them at this price because they offer 3600 MHz combined with a cache latency of 17. I don't recommend them to those who don't already have a build and want to build one now because, due to DDR4, it will hold them back from the speeds offered by the new DDR5 RAM. *Note that their installation is more than simple.
