Description

The Nektar SE25 is an excellent solution for any mobile music production setup. Our most portable MIDI keyboard, it is approximately as wide as a laptop and offers everything you need to create music on the go: 25 highly playable mini keys, six control buttons, and Nektar DAW Integration. Thus, the SE25 is much more powerful than it appears at first glance. And we haven't even mentioned its unique feature with the Part 2 buttons yet.

Mobile Action - The Keyboard

The keys are the most important feature for a MIDI keyboard as they transfer ideas to the computer. Since the SE25 is designed to be completely portable and fit into any backpack, there simply wasn't room to fit full-sized keys. But we still wanted it to have a nice and proper playing feel. So we developed a new, velocity-sensitive mini key for the SE25. Despite the tiny dimensions of these keys, you can play them expressively with a defined and solid feel. Additionally, the ability to choose between three different velocity curves allows you to customize the MIDI keyboard's response to your playing style. These keys are ready for action!

Double Up – Part Two

Simply press the "Part 2" button to momentarily shift the octave, add an octave or a level of harmony while playing - or switch to a different channel. The unique Part 2 function will allow you to play in ways that are not possible even on keyboards with many more keys! But what makes the SE25 special? The moment you release the Part 2 button, the SE25 returns to its original settings. This way, you can switch between two different sets of MIDI keyboard settings in real-time. A truly fun and useful feature! The "PART 2" button can be assigned to Octave, MIDI Channel, Transpose, Layer, and Latch or a combination of these features.

Configuration - Performance Monitoring

Pitch Bend, Modulation, and Sustain are the key features that determine the dynamic performance of a MIDI keyboard.

So, we found a way to shrink the controls so you can have them right at your fingertips while playing. Six buttons on the left
side of the keyboard are pre-assigned for shifting, transporting, and sustaining the octave.

Don't need octave shifting? You can reassign the transport button to change Pitch Bend, MIDI Volume, Pan, Track*, or Patch*
(*= requires Nektar DAW integration). The "S" Sustain button can alternatively be used to control modulation.

Nektar DAW Integration

Give your mouse a break and control DAW functions and track selection directly from the SE25. Simply press the Play and Rewind buttons simultaneously to enter transport mode, and the NEKTAR DAW Integration software allows you to control your DAW!

Nektar DAW integration for SE25 supports Bitwig, Cubase, Garageband, Logic, Nuendo, Digital Performer, Mixcraft, Reason, Reaper, Sonar, and Studio One. (To take advantage of Nektar DAW Integration, you must register the SE25 and download the integration files from your user account.)

Record Your Ideas - Includes Bitwig 8-Track

You can start music production, play, and design sounds like a professional from day one with the provided Bitwig 8-Track DAW. It includes over 50 digital instruments and effects for use on up to 8 audio or MIDI tracks, and you can also use any third-party VST plugins you may have. The "Bitwig Essentials" also comes as part of this package, featuring a curated collection of beats, clips, and samples to help you get started.

With Nektar DAW Integration, you can control track selection and transport directly from the SE25, offering a fantastic combination. If you are just starting out, you will find that it is the perfect way to take your first steps into the world of creation and digital music. And if you are already familiar with using computer software, you will be amazed at what this combination has to offer!

Review this product
  • Awesome for its price. The only problem it has in my opinion is that it has a delay, so it's a bit difficult to use in real-time without needing post-processing. Otherwise, very good.
