Most fourth-grade students have mastered the decoding mechanism during reading, but many struggle to understand what they read. This specific manual is designed to develop the reading comprehension of fourth-grade students through appropriate strategies and accessible teaching techniques.

Thus, it offers teachers an effective teaching tool for enhancing their students’ reading skills as well as for adequate written expression at a subsequent level. Additionally, through the variety of texts it employs, it introduces students to the magic of the world of books, enabling them to become capable and critical readers.

It includes five thematic units: - Environment - Ancient Greece - Olympic Games - Living Safely - Life at School, which correspond to the interests of the students and strengthen their prior knowledge.

Each thematic unit comprises four subunits, which have been selected to align with the interdisciplinary concepts (system, interaction, change, space, time, individual-whole, similarity-difference, culture) that govern the Interdisciplinary Unified Framework of Study Programs.

We chose to include a variety of text types so that students can engage with and internalize their structure explicitly or implicitly. At the same time, the activities are text-centered and can be differentiated to meet the abilities of all students.

The allure of reading is connected to enjoyment as well as to the students’ ability to strengthen their cognitive background. Teachers must be the guides and supporters in their intricate journey of endless pursuit of knowledge.
