Description

The Focusrite ISA One is a professional single-channel analogue microphone preamp, based on the iconic acoustic design of the ISA series, originally created by Rupert Neve for the Focusrite Forte console. It features a Lundahl LL1538 input transformer, delivering an exceptionally wide frequency range, fast transient response and extremely low noise. The unit includes an independent DI (Direct Injection) circuit with a separate output, allowing you to record a microphone and an instrument (e.g. electric guitar or bass) simultaneously. It also offers variable input impedance with four settings, including the classic ISA 110 setting, as well as an analogue VU meter and LED peak meters for precise signal-level monitoring.

ISA Architecture & Lundahl LL1538 Transformer

The Focusrite ISA One is based on the original preamp circuit of the Focusrite Forte console. At its core is the Lundahl LL1538 input transformer, which galvanically isolates the signal and delivers a transparent, open sound with exceptional high-frequency detail. Its ability to provide clean gain of up to +80dB makes this preamp ideal even for demanding dynamic microphones or low-output ribbon microphones.

Variable Input Impedance & Independent DI Circuit

The microphone input features a Variable Input Impedance selector with 4 different settings. This allows users to match the impedance precisely to the microphone’s specifications or deliberately alter its tonal response. In addition, the built-in DI Box channel has its own transformer, a high-Z instrument input, a Thru output for connecting to an amplifier, and an independent line output, making it easy to record clean and processed signals simultaneously.

Analog Metering, Insert Loop & Ergonomic Design

The front panel of the unit features an analogue VU meter with calibration for alignment with digital DAW systems, as well as LED peak meters to prevent digital distortion (clipping). The rear panel provides a full Insert Send/Return circuit for connecting external analogue processors, such as compressors or equalisers. Its portable desktop design and sturdy metal handle make the ISA One a versatile tool for both professional studios and mobile recording.
