DIMITRIS KAPSOUMENOS
Of Cretan origin, he was born in Athens in 1937-1994. A composer in the field of art music. He was a professor at the National Conservatory and in Secondary Education.
He began his music studies at the Venizelios Conservatory in Chania, continued at the National Conservatory of Athens, where he completed his studies earning honors, awards, and cash prizes, six diplomas and certificates.
In Italy, he completed advanced studies at the state conservatories of Florence and Bologna, as well as at the Music Academy of Siena. He studied Band, Orchestra Conducting, and Composition, earning new diplomas.
He has written almost all genres of music. His works have been recognized in composition competitions and have been performed at numerous concerts in Athens and the provinces.
Abroad, his works are broadcasted by radio stations and performed in concerts, such as in Italy, Germany, Finland, the USA, Cyprus, and Yugoslavia.
He developed cultural activities, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Greek Composers, President of the Union of Secondary Education Teachers, Artistic Director of the Venizelios Conservatory, and the initiator and founder of the Symphony Orchestra of Crete.
