The Archimandrite Joslin envisions that God has chosen him to erect a massive bell tower above his medieval cathedral.

Without a foundation and despite the desperate advice of both clergy and craftsmen, the bell tower is being built -octagon by octagon, gable by gable-, until its shadow falls darkly upon the land that stretches below.

An even darker shadow falls upon the Archimandrite himself.
