I connected it to the back of my PC case. I plugged the external speakers into one output and the monitor (which has built-in speakers) into the second output. Now I have permanent sound from the monitor and I can turn on the speakers when I need high volume (e.g. music, gaming, etc.). It worked flawlessly and with excellent quality at every volume level and combination of the two outputs. Exactly what I needed.
