Description

The new book by Grandmaster Stratos Grivas, The Bible of Tactics in Chess – Magnum Opus, is the ultimate classified collection of all types of checkmates in chess.

It is a fascinating world of tactics, themes, and mechanisms that govern modern chess, providing the reader with invaluable knowledge on their journey to chess mastery. The author presents and analyzes an exceptionally extensive body of tactical structures, along with their historical background.

The book was initially published in English in early 2019 and is already considered one of the top releases of the year – a timeless work that is expected to serve as a reference point for many years to come.

Armed with the knowledge of checkmate patterns, players can identify opportunities for quick endings to their games or prevent disaster if they find themselves under such pressure.

Stratos Grivas, Grandmaster and top coach, is one of the most important figures in Greek and world chess in recent years. After gathering – first as a talented youth and then as a young, but chess-wise mature Grandmaster – all individual and team championship titles in Greece, he established himself by winning all possible world titles (Grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer, International Arbiter, International Organizer) awarded based on criteria by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

He then focused on chess education and training, a significant part of which includes writing specialized manuals and essays.

Personally, I found it very poorly written, not suitable for the average reader, even if they have advanced knowledge of chess. The moves, recorded numerically and collectively on paper, are completely impractical. Unfortunately, a large part of the book is printed this way
