This dictionary has been written based on the results methodology derived from the Cumbre corpus. The Great Dictionary of Contemporary Spanish includes: hundreds of new words that do not appear in most general Spanish dictionaries. A vast variety of archaic or outdated terms have also been excluded.

The dictionary contains: over 70,000 words and phrases; 150,000 meanings or definitions; 100,000 examples of real usage (extracted from the CUMBRE corpus); extremely detailed frequency analysis for each word, using abbreviations, frequency ranking for meanings within each entry, etc.; phonetic transcription (International Phonetic Alphabet); syllable division for spelling and word division with a hyphen at the end of the line; common uses from Latin America; information on grammar, spelling, and punctuation; abundant synonyms and antonyms, which are categorized according to meanings; and, the target audience, which includes: the general user, native students, and students of Spanish as a foreign language.
