The book "Learning Difficulties and Educational Practice", the result of many years of experience, research activity, practical applications, and practical work by the author, focuses on issues of learning and teaching children with learning difficulties. It presents contemporary knowledge about the nature of learning difficulties, addresses issues of their evaluation, and describes various application activities for teaching children facing such difficulties in a simple and understandable way. In the new, significantly expanded edition, three chapters have been added, which refer to the historical and theoretical background of the category, as well as important issues in defining learning difficulties. Additionally, the edition has been updated with data on student characteristics, based on new research data from the past 10 years.
The goal of the book is primarily to deepen the understanding of learning difficulties and the special needs that arise from them, through familiarizing educators and the reading public with contemporary scientific perspectives and research data.
A second goal is to support educators in addressing and resolving the difficulties that arise in their daily teaching practice, as well as to provide systematic and substantial personalized teaching to students with learning difficulties.
The lack of Greek literature regarding teaching methods and the inability of traditional teaching models to meet the specific needs of students with learning difficulties make this book a valuable aid, which undoubtedly will facilitate the work of all those involved and concerned with the daily learning and support of children in school.
