The dream that various writers use to characterize Cyprus is: “Island of the Saints”. The large number of Saints who were born and lived on the island, as well as those who were either passersby or passed away in Cyprus, serves to substantiate this characterization.
To this day, there are 240 known Saints of the Island. Many of them remain unknown to us, not recognized by the church of Cyprus, yet they are venerated by the people.
The Cypriots are renowned for their hospitality and unwavering faith, a fact evidenced by the large multitude of Saints whose lives and works have marked our small homeland.
