In these two lines, Arkas encapsulates all the amorality and cynical self-interest of the post-dictatorship political personnel of the country. Although the source of his inspiration may be the "first time left," the sharp criticism in his cartoons pertains to both the past and, unfortunately, the future of this place. Because, as long as political lies, easy promises, and demagoguery find receptive ears, Arkas' political cartoons will remain relevant.
