Why did "Friends Editions" choose "Lazarilio de Tormes" to inaugurate a small library of the most interesting books of Spanish literature that are unknown in Greece? For two reasons.
The first, because the work had already been translated by Julia Iatridi. The second, because "Lazarilio de Tormes" presents a type of concise literary expression that characterizes the Spanish spirit, the satirical novel (novela picaresca), which has not yet been presented in Greek, as translations of other notable works of Spanish literature have long been presented, such as "Don Quixote" by Cervantes, by Lope de Vega, by Calderón, by Tirso de Molina, by Saint Teresa of Avila, and contemporary works such as those by Unamuno, Jiménez, Valle-Inclán, García Lorca, and others, by experienced translators such as Cartheus, Iatridi, Father Typaldos, Prevelakis, Gatsos, Tsiropoulos, etc. [...]
