Metal halide lamp 70W warm white light 3300K with brightness of 5900 lumens, efficiency of 73-75lm/watt, and an average lifespan of 12,000 hours, which means that with daily use of 11-12 hours on average, it lasts 5-7 years, maybe even slightly more. This particular one is from the old and good German productions, which have stopped around 2009-2010, and until about 2019 they were manufactured in Slovakia, where they were also equally high quality, and now in China, where unfortunately the quality is much lower, with a maximum lifespan of 3-4 years! This particular lamp, like all metal halide MH lamps including most HID lamps, requires the use of a ballast and additionally an ignitor for generating the high voltage pulse of 3000-5000V, as well as a capacitor, usually 12μf for 70W power, to compensate the power factor, reaching close to or above 0.9, otherwise it will be at 0.35-0.4. Also, the ballast must explicitly state that it is for high-pressure sodium and metal lamps, and the ignitor, although it usually covers from 70 to 400W, it is good to check what is written on it or use an electronic ballast, which eliminates the need for an ignitor and capacitor and eliminates flickering.

    Used in:
Storefront displays: Highlighting clothes and products with vivid colors.
Shopping centers: Lighting large halls and common areas.
Exhibition spaces: Lighting in art galleries, museums, and cars.
Hotels: Lighting in large lobbies and conference rooms.
Industrial buildings: Lighting in factories, warehouses, and high-ceilinged sheds.
Sports facilities: Lighting in football fields, tennis courts, and indoor gyms.
Outdoor public spaces: Lighting in parking lots, monuments, building facades, and squares, and in special applications such as:
Indoor cultivation (Hydroponics): Used in the plant growth stage due to its rich blue spectrum.
Large aquariums: Simulating natural reef light for marine plants and corals. They are also used as street and highway lighting, although rarely, as high-pressure sodium HPS lamps are usually used, which are superior in lm-watt performance and usually last longer, with their characteristic yellow-orange light. This type of double-ended metal halide lamp is intended for more specific applications like those mentioned above!

This particular metal halide lamp is one of the most reliable on the market, lasting 5-7 years and ideally even slightly more under heavy use all night, offering good light output with CRI 80, incredible energy savings compared to halogen, which at 350-400W gives 5500-6000 lumens, while a 400W metal halide gives 30,000-45,000 lumens—a huge difference, day and night!
