Description

The new, sixth, two-volume edition of "Family Law" by Emeritus Professor of the University of Thessaloniki, Effie Kounougeri-Manoledaki, has been released, updated based on legislative changes, case law, and literature from the last four years.

The first (XXVII & 494 pages) and the second volume (XV & 646 pages) encompass the entire subject of family law: the first volume contains chapters on marriage (betrothal, marriage contract, defective marriage, spousal relationships during cohabitation and separation, divorce), and the second volume includes chapters on medically assisted reproduction, kinship, alimony by law, parent-child relationships, adoption, guardianship, foster care for minors, judicial support, care of foreign affairs, and cohabitation agreements.

Regarding legislation, the most significant changes that the book aligns with are included in Law 4335/2015, which reformed the Code of Civil Procedure, and Law 4356/2015 concerning the new cohabitation agreement. The first law introduced serious amendments to family procedural law, with the most important being the inclusion of a large number of family disputes under the special procedure of the new article 592 of the Code of Civil Procedure ("disputes arising from marriage, family, and free cohabitation").

With the second law, many significant points of the old provisions concerning the cohabitation agreement were modified, the most important being the extension of its application to same-sex couples. Regarding case law, there is a presentation and critical analysis of all recent judicial decisions related to family law, and of course, the book also utilizes and cites all theoretical works that have been published since its previous edition.
