The all-powerful man, the conqueror of this small planet in the vast universe! This seemingly weak creature, who possesses the greatness and courage to challenge: Give me a place to stand, and I shall move the Earth. The unknown, no matter how terrifying and otherworldly it may be, does not deter him, does not disappoint him. It may fill him with awe and fear, but it has always been, and still is, his vision.
Through the paths of the most rampant imagination, he tries to approach and examine this unknown. With dreams, oracles, and symbols, he will seek to explain it, just as he did in ancient times, within the caves. The small thoughts of his mind, sparks flickering on the dark horizon of reason, help him make rudimentary comparisons and draw conclusions.
The power of bloodthirsty beasts impresses him. He is also impressed by the cunning of the weak, who strive to survive. Being weak himself, he seeks ways to prevail. Perhaps for the first time then, he turned his gaze to the sky, and his primitive thought discovered the first truth. It was the grandeur and carefree nature of birds that flew freely and safely, while below raged the harsh war of survival.
The sky then! That was where he needed to turn. To this endless, azure, chaotic, and mysterious sky. A desire that has since taken root deep within him and became an uncontrollable yearning, passed down from generation to generation. Climbing and searching for whatever was highest around him. To find the lost paradise with the cool, flower-filled gardens, high up in the towering and untouched mountains. To gaze upon the Earth and embrace it, as a master and all-powerful being, just like the gods.
The fearsome gods with human passions and weaknesses, whom man himself created ‘in his own image’ and placed to dwell up there. Many times throughout History, these paradises were conquered. Through countless labors, struggles, and sacrifices, they became his own. Panting and exhausted, man would reach there. Bliss and boundless joy followed.
However, this elation was short-lived. It vanished when he discovered that the gods had disappeared. They had flown further away on the white horses of his own imagination. They had left for other, more beautiful paradises, and the new endeavor began anew. Yet, these steps of the new conquest were also good. New horizons opened up, clearer, more radiant. Little by little, taboos and fears crumbled. Gradually, the gods became more familiar, more friendly.
