The place of Agrafa is full of legends, stories, traditions, narratives, and there is not a single inch of land that does not have its own interest.
The photographer-writer Takis Dasios, a genuine and true mountaineer, sacrificed a full fifteen years, not to climb the Agrafa mountains, but to study the area as much as possible, to consult a bunch of resources, and people. He studied the area so thoroughly that no one else to date, no matter how much they have engaged with Agrafa, has been able to provide us with the details that the author of this album offers.
What impressed me greatly about his work is that he has included in his recording all the seasons of the year. The winter transparencies he created are, to me, the best, the unparalleled ones. A lot of effort, a lot of study, and to have the right weather conditions...
Mountaineers have the privilege of knowing and loving nature, experiencing the mountains up close. However, I would make a wish to the new mountaineers, to the people who truly love nature and live it, to photograph and not only think about who will climb higher and in less time but to capture with their lens what will remain and will form our history for future generations.
Takis Dasios managed to gather the lives of people in the Agrafi mountains, to present it in a sequence, so that when one looks at these photos and reads these texts, they not only become fully informed but also want to visit this place, to see the mountains of Agrafa, to finally see what inspires you and reveals so many things, which in our days are increasingly being lost.
It is not only the past but also what we are living today that allows us to move forward into the future.
