Coming from Wacom tablets for the past 20 years, a devoted and unwavering fan, I finally decided to try out the competition.
I got the Deco Pro WM with Bluetooth, which is not yet available in Greece. So, I will only say that the Bluetooth works perfectly and I will continue with the evaluation of the rest.
The feeling of drawing on the surface is incredibly similar to using a pencil on paper (truly amazing). The stylus has a very good grip, the weight is just right, and the balance is exceptional.
It has pressure sensitivity in the stylus, which sometimes has some unexpected jumps, but nothing major, Wacom tablets also have that. It also has tilt sensitivity, which is supported. In Photoshop, it is supported with great results.
The quality of the materials is very good, with a metallic base (resembling MacBook) and a plastic surface on top. The buttons could be slightly better, but no complaints with them.
The scroll wheel is stepless and has a very nice feel. In the center, the black surface is a regular trackpad like those on laptops and it functions as a mouse or a secondary touch scroll wheel, depending on the setting you choose. The 8 buttons are very convenient for shortcuts with macros or button combinations. The shortcuts and the scroll wheel can be individually customized for each program. For example, in the Windows environment, the trackpad functions as a mouse, and in Photoshop, it functions as zoom. It works with Android, and the cable for connection is included.
The package includes a glove that glides on the surface for prolonged use. It also includes a case for the stylus and several spare tips, if I remember correctly, 8. By registering the product on the official website, you also receive a free application out of 4 options, essentially 2 because the other two are 3-month trials. Personally, I chose ArtRage 6 for painting.
Overall, it is the definition of value for money at this price, and I highly recommend it even for budget professional use, which is what I do.
After so many positives, there is also one NEGATIVE for which I was ready to deduct a star, but... The negative is that you cannot use 2 buttons simultaneously or a combination of a button and the scroll wheel. For example, in Lightroom, I have assigned one button to alt and the scroll wheel to brush size, but pressing the button (alt) and turning the scroll wheel does not change the size of the negative brush.
UPDATE
As of today, when I am writing this on 4/3/2023, it is still functioning flawlessly. The surface has some signs of use from the stylus, but it holds up well. With the new 2023 driver update, combinations of keys (shortcuts) now work, but not the combination of the scroll wheel and a button.
Προερχόμενος από γραφίδες wacom τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια, φανατικός και αμετάκλητος, τελικά είπα να δοκιμάσω και τον ανταγωνισμό.
Πήρα το deco pro wm με Bluetooth το οποίο δεν κυκλοφορεί ακόμα στην Ελλάδα. Γι' αυτό θα πω μόνο ότι το Bluetooth λειτουργεί άψογα και θα συνεχίσω στην αξιολόγηση για τα υπόλοιπα.
Η αίσθηση ζωγραφίζοντας στην επιφάνεια μοιάζει απίστευτα με μολύβι σε χαρτί (πραγματικά εκπληκτικό). Το στυλό έχει πολύ καλό κράτημα, πολύ σωστό βάρος και εξαιρετικό ζύγισμα.
Έχει αισθητήρα πίεσης στο στύλο, όπου κάνει κάποια αναπάντεχα jumps, αλλά όχι κάτι σπουδαίο, το κάνουν και τα wacom. Επίσης έχει και αισθητήρα κλίσης, όπου υποστηρίζεται αυτό. Στο Photoshop υποστηρίζεται με τρομερό αποτέλεσμα.
Η ποιότητα των υλικών είναι πολύ καλή με μεταλλική βάση (μοιάζει με τα MacBook) και πλαστική επιφάνεια από πάνω. Τα κουμπιά θα μπορούσαν να είναι λίγο καλύτερα αλλά κανένα παράπονο και με αυτά.
Η ροδέλα είναι stepless και έχει πολύ ωραία αίσθηση. Στο κέντρο της η μαύρη επιφάνεια είναι κανονικό trackpad σαν των λάπτοπ και λειτουργεί και σαν mouse ή δευτερεύουσα touch ροδέλα, ανάλογα την ρύθμιση που θα κάνεις. Τα 8 κουμπιά πολύ βολικά για shortcuts με μακροεντολές ή συνδυασμό κουμπιών. Τα shortcuts και η ροδελα μπορούν να αλλάξουν μεμονωμένα για κάθε πρόγραμμα. Πχ στο περιβάλλον windows το trackpad είναι mouse και στο Photoshop είναι zoom. Λειτουργεί με android, όπου περιέχεται και το καλώδιο για την σύνδεση.
Στην συσκευασία περιέχεται γάντι που γλιστράει στην επιφάνεια, για πολύωρη χρήση. Επίσης θήκη για το στυλό και κάμποσες μύτες ανταλλακτικές, αν θυμάμαι καλά 8. Με την εγγραφή του προϊόντος στο επίσημο site δίνει και δώρο 1 εφαρμογή από 4 επιλογές, στην ουσία 2 γιατί οι άλλες δύο είναι trials 3 μηνών. Προσωπικά πήρα το artrage6 για ζωγραφική.
Γενικά είναι η έννοια του vfm σε αυτή την τιμή και το προτείνω άνετα και για budget επαγγελματική χρήση την οποία και κάνω.
Μετά από τόσα θετικά υπάρχει και ένα ΑΡΝΗΤΙΚΟ για το οποίο ήμουν έτοιμος να αφαιρέσω και ένα αστέρι αλλά..... Το αρνητικό λοιπόν είναι ότι δεν μπορείς να χρησιμοποιήσεις 2 κουμπιά ταυτόχρονα ή συνδυασμό κουμπιού και ροδελας. Πχ στο Lightroom ένα κουμπί το έχω αναθέσει στο alt και την ροδέλα στο brush size, πατώντας το κουμπί (alt) και γυρνώντας την ροδέλα δεν αλλάζει το μέγεθος της αρνητικής μάσκας (negative brush).
UPDATE
Μέχρι και σήμερα που γράφω 4/3/2023 λειτουργεί απροβληματιστα. Η επιφάνεια έχει κάποια σημάδια χρήσης από το στυλό αλλά βαστάει γερά. Με το νέο update του 2023 στον driver πλέον λειτουργούν συνδυασμοί πλήκτρων (shortcuts) αλλά όχι συνδυασμός ροδελας και πλήκτρου.
