"Gestures of Shame" is a collection of 28 concise Greek-Byzantine stories, where the chronicler delights in showcasing what escapes journalists. A psychiatric hospital in Corfu preparing to celebrate, a gardener in a cemetery with distinguished deceased, the portrait of a traffic warden, the "unknown love life" of Greeks, some Zaidas, Dimitra who predicts the future in a coffee shop, and other related elements constitute his troupe.
Vasilis Boutos seems to disdain direct speech and often prophesies with a poetic elliptical writing style that intoxicates him. The reader will find a decline in values - "moral" values - and at the same time a "religion" projected behind the simple writing of these stories.
