The Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 is an internal PCI Express sound card featuring a Sound Core3D audio processor, an ESS SABRE 9018 DAC, and a dual Xamp headphone amplifier. It supports PCM playback up to 32-bit/384 kHz and has a 127 dB dynamic range. It provides discrete 5.1 surround sound for speakers and virtual surround sound up to 7.1 for speakers and headphones, as well as Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect encoding.

The independent Xamp amplifier powers each headphone channel separately and has a 1 Ω output impedance, supporting headphones with an impedance of 16–600 Ω. The ACM audio control module features a built-in microphone array, 3.5 mm and 6.3 mm microphone and headphone jacks, and a volume control.
