In the above design, from publications of poems, stories, articles, reviews, translations by Tsirkas, I only note that I considered necessary to delete his intellectual journey, to give the aesthetic and political stamp, especially in difficult years, such as those of war and the last dictatorship, his relationship with people and things. From the studies on Cavafy, which were initially presented in magazines, but have been included in the two volumes on Cavafy, I only mention the first one. Also, pre-publications, re-publications, Greek and foreign, and translations of his texts in foreign publications are not recorded. I only mention the actual reissues and not the repeated reprints of his books. It was not possible to include critiques of his work and studies related to it. Thus, the image of its reception, and above all the conflicts and fermentations it caused, cannot be formed. Many texts by Tsirkas himself, especially those related to Cavafy, come to silently or explicitly respond to objections of other scholars. I have nothing but to refer to Katerina Plasaras' work "Stratis Tsirkas, Bibliography 1926-1978", Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive, 1979, which was a valuable help for me as well.
In addition to the information I gathered from Tsirkas' autobiographical notes, published writings, diaries, interviews, etc., I also used some elements from unpublished material in his archive. The help and support of his wife Antigone Chatziandreou and his sister Alexandra Maloukatou, who endured my exhaustive interrogations, were decisive. I warmly thank them, as well as the Egyptian comrades of Tsirkas who were kind enough to provide me with information about his activities during those years.
