Description

Rear motorcycle tyre Trailmax Meridian by Dunlop. It is suitable for on-off riding, meaning it can be used both on the road (paved surfaces) and off-road. It should be noted that tyres of this type are a middle-ground solution for both uses.

Tyre dimensions and characteristics

The dimensions are 150/70-17. This means it has a width of 150mm, a profile of 70, and can be mounted on a 17" diameter rim. The profile of the tires, which is the height of the tire's sidewall, is always referred to as a plain number without a unit of measurement because it is a percentage of the width. For example, a 180/55 tire has a width of 180mm and a profile of 55, meaning it has a profile of 180 x 0.55 = 99mm.

The load index and the speed index are two other important characteristics of the tires. Specifically, the load index is the maximum load under which the tires are expected to function correctly and is described by an integer, which corresponds to kilograms, while the speed index is the maximum speed under which the tires are expected to function correctly and is described by a letter from the English alphabet, which corresponds to km/h. It should be noted that the maximum kilograms, to which the load index corresponds, are per tire.

Note:

The maximum weight increases proportionally with the load index number, meaning the higher the number, the greater the maximum operating weight of the tire. Similarly, the maximum speed increases as the speed index letter "increases," meaning the speed index "S" corresponds to a lower speed than that of the "V" index.

In this case, the tire is 69V, meaning the load index and speed index are 69 and V, respectively.

The marking TL comes from the initials of the words Tubeless Tyres. Tires with this marking do not require an inner tube.

Ice-Ax

The innovative "ice-ax" tread design offers grip on gravel, increases traction on unpaved roads, and provides optimal water evacuation, helping riders feel confident in all conditions.

Rayon Ply

The Rayon Ply carcass handles temperature better, minimizing warm-up times and achieving more efficient use of the tread compound.

Owner of a HONDA VARADERO MK3 since 2012, with over 120,000 km on this bike. I installed this tire in Oct 24. After the recommended break-in period for the tire, according to the instructions of the installation shop, I started using it normally.
    Impressions:
    a) As far as the tire's grip is concerned, it's top-notch. In turns, my boot would touch the asphalt. Rating 5/5.
    b) Riding at speeds over 160 km/h was out of the question. The bike shook so much that you would think either all the wheel bearings were gone or a tire had burst. After about 1500 km of use (within six months), I went to the installation shop (STAVROU in Bolati, Corinthia) and reported the problem. To their credit, they checked the motorcycle for wheel bearings, wheel balancing, proper chain tension, etc., and found no problem. They fitted a used front tire for testing and the result did not change. As soon as a used rear tire was fitted, the bike rode like a train (not like the Tempi train). The importer was informed and the tire was replaced with exactly the same one. Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed. The importer was informed again about the issue and their final conclusion was that the motorcycle and its suspension settings (Ohlins fully adjustable rear), which I did not change even a click from those with the used replacement Bridgestone, were to blame. Rating 0/5.
I will not use it again. I consider it extremely dangerous at relatively high speeds. The second star is only because of the grip.
