Many times I hear the question "Why does my dog bark?" and instead of answering, I am forced to ask myself "Why do babies cry?". The owner of the dog must understand once and for all that the dog is neither a security lock to secure its belongings, nor an anti-theft alarm device, nor a game detection machine. It is above all a living creature with instincts, desires, feelings, and needs. We cannot feed the dog if we remember it and whenever we remember it. We cannot give water to the dog only if we happen to be near the faucet, nor can we leave it isolated in a corner, often tied with a very short chain that forces it to urinate and defecate where it eats. The dog, like a child, must be fed at the same time every day, always have plenty of fresh water available, and have a clean environment in a limited space, but with some freedom of movement.
