    If you leave it overnight or for a few hours, it makes the hair very soft. Also, if you use it for hair straightening with a hairdryer, it makes straightening easier and protects from heat. And it probably helps with preventing hair breakage, I just can't say for sure because I also use other products for this reason, so I don't know which one of them does the job.
