This edition is a historical testimony of Stefanos Papagiannis who, while starting as a young officer in the Greek army, became a member of the KKE in May 1942. From a cadet, ELAS partisan, general staff officer of the Democratic Army of Greece, and later commander of an Artillery unit in Grammos.
In his long party life, he rose to many responsible leadership positions, lived through and participated in all the major events that marked the modern history of our country. A life with principles, values, ideals, dedicated to the struggle for peace, for justice, for national independence, for the liberation of mankind, for socialism.
"Despite the strict restrictions and countless obstacles posed by anti-communism, the proposals of the KKE passed through the gates of the military camps and became known to soldiers and officers (...) Political discussions took place among the lower-ranking officers in the units and military clubs."
St. Papagiannis is a model and example of an officer, like thousands of other officers who marched alongside the people and contributed to their struggles, their resistance, and their victories.
With a modest tone, as befits a communist, St. Papagiannis narrates his experiences in his book, presenting a written monument of devotion to the struggle and the goals of the KKE, capable of inspiring such great works and shaping such personalities, which should serve as a role model for the way of life of every new communist man and woman.
