The monograph contributes to addressing the problems posed by deadlines in the law of kinship and is the first modern monograph on this subject. The author formulates interpretive solutions to the emerging problems that concern theory and case law. The main issues addressed in the monograph include, among others, the interpretive approach to the general provisions on deadlines (Civil Code Articles 240-246) in light of the evaluative considerations encompassed by the deadlines of the law of kinship, the crystallization of legislative evaluations of the individual deadlines of the law of kinship, through which mainly the principles of biological origin and the security and certainty of family relationships are balanced, the critical view of the provisions on prescription that are applied accordingly to each of the amortization deadlines of the law of kinship, the overview of the recent case law of the European Court of Human Rights on deadlines concerning kinship, and also the formulation and documentation of the interpretive position according to which the amortization deadlines of the law of kinship, which are established to ensure the certainty of family relationships, do not expire before the beneficiary of the time-limited intergenerational right is informed of the biological truth. The author processed the relevant case law of Greek courts of the last decade concerning the deadlines of the law of kinship, and also took into account the latest positions of Greek theory, as well as international developments concerning the subject. At the end of the work, a bibliography and an index of entries are provided.
