The volume includes standalone studies that address the complex cultural phenomenon of theater from different perspectives. The focus is primarily on ancient drama and modern Greek theater, approached from comparative, performative, historical, and sociological viewpoints, in such a way that the History of Theater gains a solid theoretical foundation, and conversely, Theater Theory finds a satisfactory application in specific examples.
The reader, through works on the direction and reception of ancient drama, aspects of theatrical modernism, comparative theater studies, and issues related to the periodization of modern Greek theater, gains knowledge and information on topics that have become integral to theater research.
Additionally, there are other studies that, apart from perhaps offering a different perspective from the author, provide new research fields and broaden scientific interests in areas such as theatrical memory, the economy of theater, and the cultural osmosis and interaction between 'popular' and 'fine' theater. With the publication of this volume, the research and writing journey of thirty years is completed, and a new one is ushered in.
