Fr. John Romanides was born in Piraeus in 1927 and fell asleep in Athens in 2001. In the meantime, he lived and grew up in Manhattan, New York, studied at the major university centers, and closely experienced scholasticism, moralism, idealism, and nationalism.
He taught in Theological Schools, traveled almost all over the world for lectures and talks, and participated in inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogues. He always spoke about the theology of the Prophets, Apostles, and Fathers and developed the value of Romiosyni from a theological, cultural, and historical perspective.
The biographical details of Fr. John Romanides can be found in the book by Fr. Georgios Metallinos, Protopresbyter John Romanides, the 'prophet of Romiosyni,' and in the introduction of my book Empirical Dogmatics.
