Description

I have always been a socialist. I joined the social-democratic trend early on, the only one that combines equality with freedom.

I know that, for wealth to be distributed, it must first be produced. But I am deeply convinced that the market should not remain unchecked.

Today, the empire of money is once again on trial. Money dominates. It was a tool; it has become a master. While money should serve the real economy, it has been elevated to a measure of everything, a criterion of human life.

Do you have money? You have everything. Don't you? You are worth nothing. Money is the law and the prophets. I do not entertain the illusion that I can put an end to its power. But I can propose strong counterweights: productive economy must prevail over the financial system, businesses over banks, investors over landlords, labor over capital, politics over markets, the general interest over quick profits, meritocracy over inherited privileges, social mobility over legacy, dignity over greed, justice over inequality, Democracy [Republique] over private interests.
