IN THE FALL OF 1913, RILKE will visit an exhibition of the already well-known puppeteer Lotte Pritzel at her studio in Munich. His impression will be such that it will inspire him to write a text about puppets as an expression of the emotional interaction between the child and the world.
The two will meet again a few years later at the bibliophilic 'Hyperion' in Munich. This time, Rilke's essay will be accompanied by drawings by Pritzel herself, in a book where the densely written yet crystal-clear captivating text of the poet is paired with dancers of ethereal appearance and radiant style, studies by the artist on her finely crafted wax dolls.
That meeting, that famous edition is revived 90 years later.
