The focal length of 45mm (90mm eq.) is ideal for portraits primarily. Its positives include the very wide aperture (f1.8), fast autofocus, and its very small size and weight. The lens has a very shallow depth of field and gives a very nice blur in the background (Bokeh). As for negatives, one could mention the construction made of hard plastic for someone demanding (which personally doesn't bother me because the construction is excellent in quality, but the bayonet mount is metallic). The lens does not exhibit chromatic aberrations, flares, or distortion, and I believe the color reproduction is impeccable. Also, minimal vignetting is observed at f1.8. Finally, regarding its sharpness, I would mention that it is quite good, mainly in the center, peaking at f5.6.
Overall, my opinion is that it is a very affordable portrait lens, well-built, and very small in size and weight, but with significantly good performance that I believe is on par with other bulkier and more expensive lenses. For the money it's worth, I am extremely satisfied.

Στα αρνητικά του ίσως θα μπορούσαμε να αναφέρουμε για κάποιον απαιτητικό την κατασκευή από σκληρό πλαστικό (κάτι το οποίο δεν με ενοχλεί προσωπικά γιατί σαν κατασκευή είναι άριστη σε ποιότητα, το bayonet κούμπωμα όμως είναι μεταλλικό). Ο φακός δεν παρουσιάζει χρωματικές αλλοιώσεις, flares ή παραμόρφωση(distortion) και η απεικόνιση των χρωμάτων πιστεύω πως είναι άψογη. Επίσης στο f1.8 παρατηρείται ελάχιστο βινιετάρισμα. Tέλος για την οξύτητά του να αναφέρω ότι είναι αρκετά καλή κυρίως στο κέντρο με αποκορύφωμα στο f5.6.
Γενικότερα η άποψή μου είναι πως πρόκειται για έναν πορτραιτοφακό πολύ φθηνό, καλής κατασκευής και πάρα πολύ μικρό σε μέγεθος και βάρος, με σημαντικά καλή επίδοση όμως που πιστεύω ότι είναι ισάξια με άλλους φακούς πιο ογκώδεις και ακριβότερους. Για τα λεφτά που αξίζει είμαι τρομερά ικανοποιημένος.

- Relatively slow manual focus ring (requires several turns).
Apart from photos, where it particularly excels in portraits, the lens is also excellent for video.
I highly recommend it, as it is a gem in the ZUIKO lens family.

Πρόκεται για έναν από τους καλύτερους φακούς για το Micro-4/3 φορμά, πόσο μάλλον αν συνυπολογίστει η εξαιρετικά προσιτή τιμή του.
Θετικά
- Φωτεινός/γρήγορος με διάφραγμα f1.8
- Μικροσκοπικό μέγεθος με βάρος μόλις 115 γρ
- Καμμία χρωματική αλλοίωση σε όλο το φάσμα των διαφραγμάτων (από f1.8 - f22)
- Τρομερά προσιτή τιμή
Αρνητικά:
- Δε διαθέτει προστατευτικό φακού (lens hood), πρακτική που ακολουθεί για τους περισσότερους φακούς της η Olympus
- Έχει αρκετά μεγάλη ελάχιστη απόσταση εστιάσης (μισό μέτρο) . Δηλαδή δεν κάνει για κοντινές φωτογραφίες macro.
- Σχετικά αργό δαχτυλίδι χειροκίνητης εστίασης (απαιτεί αρκετές στροφές).
Εκτός από φωτογραφίες, που ιδίως στα πορτρέτα είναι στο στοιχείο του, ο φακός είναι εξαιρετικός και σε video.
Το συνιστώ ανεπιφύλακτα, μιας και είναι ένα διαμάντι της οικογένειας των φακών ZUIKO
